Santa Barbara Railroad Station
Santa Barbara, CA

The Santa Barbara Railroad Station has been restored to its 1926 period of significance. The new interior ticket counter has been designed to meet the Amtrak's new security standards while capturing the historical period. The historical restrooms, lighting fixtures, ceramic mosaic tile, and finishes have been restored. Missing fixtures were replicated exactly to match the original.

The station, along with two adjunct structures, the Railway Express Agency and Signalman's building, have been seismically retrofitted. The Southern Pacific's track platform and the station both comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Santa Barbara Railroad Station underwent the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 Section 106 Process prior to obtaining funds for the restoration. TEA-21 funds were also used for the project.

The improvements to the site included period landscaping, new parking and the development of the historic Moreton Fig Tree Park.
