Leo Carrillo Ranch
Carlsbad, CA

The Leo Carrillo Ranchis an adobe ranch house with accessory wood and adobe structures built in the mid 1930s and owned by the City of Carlsbad. The ranch house was designed by Leo Carrillo, a silent screen and television star famous for his role as Pancho in the “Cisco Kid” series in the 1950s. The methods of construction are typical of Mexican Ranchos constructed in the early 1800s.

Heritage Architecture & Planning’s the scope of services included the preparation of an exhaustive Historic Structure Report including landscape, detailed site and building photographic documentation, stabilization drawings of the existing structures, master plan, construction documents, and construction observation services. Each of the 15 buildings were seismically retrofitted in accordance to their specific type of construction ranging from wood frame, adobe, concrete, and steel frame.
