The City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department retained Heritage Architecture & Planning in 2004 to perform an investigation of the highly ornamental cast-stone facades of three historic structures in Balboa Park. The three structures are the Museum of Man and California Tower built in 1915, the San Diego Museum of Art built in 1924, and the Casa del Prado reconstructed in 1971. The structures are all on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Heritage team provided architectural and engineering and cost estimating services to evaluate present conditions and needed stabilization and repair of the ornamentation.
Heritage has prepared construction documents and will oversee the bidding process and perform construction observation services.
