Old San Diego Police Headquarters Rehabilitation
San Diego, CA

The Old San Diego Police Headquarters was completed in 1939 using Works Progress Administration (WPA) funds. The Spanish Colonial Revival Headquarters was designed by noted San Diego architects Charles and Edward Quayle and Alberto O. Tregana and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 2001, Heritage Architecture & Planning was contracted by the San Diego Unified Port District to prepare an Adaptive Reuse and Feasibility Study. Heritage advised the Port District on the best methods to remodel the Headquarters while incorporating new uses and providing space for an expansion of Embarcadero Park.

In 2005, Heritage was hired to provide historic preservation consulting services for the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the Headquarters. Working with Fehlman-LaBarre Architects, Heritage is helping to incorporate new retail, restaurant, entertainment, and a public market uses while complying with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

In 2006, Heritage was contacted to complete an application for Federal Rehabilitation Tax Incentives for the Old Police Headquarters.
