The
Fourth Ward School was constructed in 1876. It was built in the "Fourth
Ward" District of Virginia City, Nevada. During its operation from
1876 to 1936, the Fourth Ward School was a monument to the value of
education, renowned for its state-of-the art heating and sanitary amenities
and its visionary approach to the full spectrum of educational experiences.
In 1999 Heritage Architecture & Planning was hired to prepare a
Historic Structures Report for the Fourth Ward School Board of Trustees.
Heritage subsequently provided architectural services for the complete
restoration of the school including the Assembly Room. The Assembly
Room provides for live performances by local acting companies. Currently,
Heritage is overseeing the reconstruction of the restroom wing.
