Proposed Warehouse Thematic Historic District

The Historic Assessment Report for a Proposed Warehouse Thematic Historic District was prepared by Heritage Architecture & Planning for the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) in compliance with a settlement agreement for the construction of the Padres new ballpark. Heritage conducted a field survey to determine the existence of a potential warehouse thematic historic district and, if applicable, prepare a nomination for its inclusion on the Local, State, or National Registers.

The field survey identified potentially contributing properties based on the building type, age, historic integrity, and adherence to at least one criterion under the Local, State, or National Registers. Historical and archival research provided additional background information. Fifty-nine properties were identified which reflected the City’s warehouse and industrial development from 1894 to 1958.
