The Will Rogers State Historic Park is a 186.5 acre site in the Santa Monica Mountains located approximately two miles northeast of Santa Monica Bay. The original one story structure was built in 1927 as a six room, side-gabled box house for weekend use by humorist and movie actor Will Rogers and his family. The Ranch House building exemplifies the "Western Ranch House" which was a label given to affluent California ranch style houses.
The major portion of the historic House museum contains the Rogers' family and artwork. Other collections are Native American and Western objects compiled during Will Rogers' extensive travels throughout the United States in his role as a public speaker and goodwill ambassador.
Heritage Architecture & Planning performed an architectural conservation assessment program for the Will Rogers State Historic Park. The work included a detail building condition analysis (landscaping, building exterior, roof, heating, security, fire protection, seismic strengthening), recommendations for the museum conservation, and plans for staffing needs.
