The Mission San Fransico Solano de Sonoma was the last and most northern of the 21 mission churches to be established in California. The Mission was founded on July 4, 1823 by Father Jose Altimira. In 1840 and 1841 the present chapel was constructed and furnished by General Vallejo. Many of the buildings within the Sonoma State Historic Park focus on the life of
Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo and the history of California. Heritage Architecture & Planning performed an architectural conservation assessment to review previous rehabilitation work, its current state of preservation, and to address growth and spatial concerns of the Museum and its staff. Assessments were conducted on the Mission, the Barracks, La Casa Grande, and Vallejo's home including the Chalet.
