The Adamson House is a two story wood framed and stucco structure that was built as a beach house for the wealthy Adamsons and is part of the inventory of buildings in Lagoon State Beach in Malibu, California. Designed by Stiles O. Clements in 1929, this Spanish Colonial Revival home contains the best surviving examples of decorative ceramic tile produced by Malibu Potteries. The home was built for Merritt Huntley Adamson and Rhoda Rindge Adamson, daughter of Frederick Hastings Rindge and May Knight Rindge, last owners of the Rancho Malibu Spanish grant.
Heritage Architecture & Planning investigated the building and prepared detailed field sketches of existing conditions identified by park personnel. Specific areas of conservation included: corrosive decay to exterior projecting terra cotta trim around the living room windows on the south elevation, water damage to an interior plaster wall adjacent to the front entry door and vestibule, and water damage to plaster surfaces and the wood ceiling in the living room associated with probable leakage from the exterior clay tile deck.
